On morning 3 I set out for my neighbourhood walk around the block, and set off about 5.15 am, leaving my dogs at home – Woody the terrier, Alice the poodle, and a foster dog from the RSPCA, Twiggy the Yorkie sized Silky Terrier.
I get to the end of the first block, and I hear a little scurry behind me – and I see that Twiggy has escaped from behind the fence to catch up with me. She always follows me, just like my shadow, so she didn’t take kindly to being left behind.
My first impulse was to turn back, but then I thought, no, she always follows so closely that she won’t wander off, and if there is any trouble, I can pick her up. So she walked with me the whole kilometer. Considering her little legs are a whole lot shorter than my own little legs, she would have taken maybe six steps for every one of mine.
But she made it, with energy to spare. Plucky little thing!
